ARE DOGS SMARTER THAN CATS?

2 04 2011

Keeping on with the topic of pets, we also discussed whether dogs were smarter than cats or it was the other way round. In order to enhance the discussion, we watched another video dealing with a piece of news which seemed to have proved that dogs are smarter than cats,  because they are supposed to be more friendly, which helped them to develop bigger brains. So it seems that intelligence is related to being friendly!!!! What an interesting remark!!!!

Anyway, I am including the video here again with the worksheet we did with it in case you want to profit from it once more or for the first time:

1.- The video

2.- The worksheet: DOGS ARE SMARTER THAN CATS VIDEO SHEET

3.- The transcript: DOGS ARE SMARTER THAN CATS VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Well, if you feel like it, you can even go and try an experiment to check this statement!!!!!

DO PETS HAVE PERSONALITY?

31 03 2011

Do pets have personality? We discussed this topic in class thoroughly and we all seemed to think the same: they do.  We gave several examples and we even watched a video which dealt with this topic, showing us that pets seem to have a real close relationship with their owners as they are alike in both image and personality. So, in case you want to watch it again, here it goes :

1. the link for the video

2. the worksheet going with it: PETS HAVE PERSONALITIES VIDEO SHEET

3. the transcript: Pets Have Personality VIDEO SHEET TRANSCRIPT

Apart from that, I found a very interesting video with a quiz to know about your personality according to your preferences about animals:

Which animal did you keep till the end???? Which was the first to go????

Well, I hope you have enjoyed this topic!!!!!

TIMETABLE FOR THIS WEEK OF ORAL EXAMS

14 03 2011

I thought it would be a good idea to publish the list of orals this week. And to publish as well the varied possibilities you have of practising English this week:ORAL EXAMS 5TH YEAR MARCH 2011

Not only will you have the traditional English dinner on Tuesday at 21.15 leaving from the school but you will also have the  possibility to practise the orals with Kaylan during this week (look the timetable at the end of the document).

Apart from that, we cannot forget that on Thursday it would be great to celebrate St. Patrick’s. How??? By going to an Irish pub at the end of the exams (21.15 leaving from school) and by being dressed in green or with something green.

Well, that’s all, good luck for the exams!!!!

PRONOUNCING CORRECTLY IN ENGLISH

7 03 2011

I have found two very intersting sites in English in order to pronounce this language more correctly. I know pronouncing in English is difficult, that is why you need to try harder and harder.

The first one is like a kind of pronunciation dictionary, I mean, you write a word or a phrase in English and they will tell you how to pronounce it correctly. The site is: http://www.howjsay.com/.

The second one is like a pronunciation club with general rules and the possibility to have your doubts solved. This new site is: http://www.englishclub.com/pronunciation/.

I hope you will find both of them useful!!!
